We passed by the Fairfax frequently during our ten years living in Germantown, often commenting that the apartments must be very attractive—high ceilings, enclosed sun porches, interesting architecture. Once we investigated further, we were hooked.
Two years ago we moved in and are very happy with the building, the neighbors, and the convenient location. We especially appreciate being able to walk to Fairmount Park and the accessibility to public transportation.
The apartments and building, including the laundry area in the basement, are well-maintained; any problems that arise are attended to promptly and with great care.
Our apartment is sunny, spacious, and quiet. And our plants love the sun porch.

My 2 sons and I have been living at the Fairfax Apartment Building for the past year and a half and we absolutely love it! They’ve made it a safe environment to live by switching to pods for access into the building. These apartments are all unique and absolutely stunning!! Inside, they have beautiful hardwood floors, tall ceilings and French doors. Mine is huge (4 big bedrooms and 3 bathrooms), is surrounded by windows and has a wonderful view of the yard/garden.
There’s a Laundry facility in the building. It’s always kept clean plus it has a ping pong table for recreation as well! There’s a swing set for young children to enjoy and a nice little area to grill and chill in the summer. We have a big parking area behind the building with assigned parking spaces. But there’s also on street free parking for guests. If you don’t have a car, no need to worry! Septa stops are right in front of the building. The Regional Rail is a half a block away also.
There’s plenty of stores within walking distance (Dunkin’ Donuts, Rite Aid, Family Dollar store, Planet Fitness Gym, Rita’s Water ice, Burger King, Wendy’s, etc.). There’s beautiful trails off of Lincoln Drive to take walks and we’re about a mile away from Kelly Drive/West River Drive. There’s a real eclectic group of tenants in this building, which is refreshing! Some have become really good friends too! Most tenants that I talk to in this building, have been living here for a really long time and I can totally understand why!
The landlords really take pride into keeping this apartment building looking nice and sound. You’ll see them around the building from time to time which shows that they really care about their tenants and the building as well! Because this is a huge building, there’s bound to be some sort of problems eventually. If there is a maintenance problem/issue that needs to be addressed, send them an email and they will email you back right away and take care of it.
The Fairfax Building will definitely be our home for a long time!!

Daniel’s family has been living in Germantown since the late 1800s. When we told his grandmother that we were moving into the Fairfax, she told us stories about its grand past.
That history is still such a big part of the Fairfax’s appeal for us. You get a real sense of history and style when you walk into the apartment. We especially love the small details like the glass door knobs and walk-in pantry.
The Fairfax has been our home for the past four years. During that time we’ve made some wonderful friends here. The community of tenants is very strong and we love that the building has a lot of families and professionals. Having the option of leaving our car in the gated lot and taking the 53 bus or walking a few blocks to Chelten station is especially convenient for commuting to center city.
We love that the last thing we see before leaving for work and first thing we see when we come back home is the beautiful garden. It really feels like a secluded oasis in the heart of Germantown. We love living at the Fairfax!

We have lived at the Fairfax for about 5 years and have only had positive experiences. When we first viewed the listing we were hesitant to move in to a large building with invisible owners and a large management company. To our surprise, the Fairfax is independently owned and the owners are visible and very friendly.
The apartments are amazing and well taken care of. They put the utmost care in to cleaning and preparing apartments prior to move-in. Any issues that may arise are addressed immediately, including inclement weather and snow removal, landscaping, repairs, and security to name a few. We love living here so much that we moved from one apartment to another after we started a family and needed more room.
The garden offers a great, safe, fun place for children to play. The garden also makes for a wonderful summer park setting to cook outside and relax in the shade.
The location of the Fairfax is central to every amenity needed and walking distance from grocery stores, banks and regional train lines as well as a central hub for many bus routes. All in all, we never think of leaving the Fairfax and feel lucky to have found such a wonderful place to live!
